Winding pathways lead the visitor through a series of “rooms” in this densely planted half-acre garden in the sunbelt of Monterey. Large, esthetically pleasing oaks and artfully placed vines and trellises create private nooks and hide-a-ways that the owner designed as a “total retreat.”  There are also vegetable beds, fruit trees and a well-established compost area that demonstrates several different composting techniques.
